PROGRAMS

Summer Teen Program (15-16 years old)
This six-week program is an opportunity to get first-hand experience in the world of healthcare through the eyes of a volunteer. You will join other Summer Teens during your shifts, get assistance from your captain and have the opportunity to learn from medical experts through Lunch & Learn sessions.

  • Students volunteer one day per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • To complete the program, volunteers must complete 42 hours of service and cannot miss more than one day/week. Doing so will result in dropping out of the program.
  • The last week of service includes a volunteer recognition for Summer Teens who successfully completed their volunteer service requirements.

Summer Teen Captain Program (17 years old)
Are you a returning Summer Teen? Are you looking to gain more leadership experience? If so, then we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for six captains to mentor/guide Summer Teens this summer. You will help them get to their placements, oversee group projects, help plan an end-of year-party, get additional leadership training and more!

  • To be eligible, candidates must have completed the Summer Teen program and junior year of high school.
  • Captains volunteer one day per week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays), from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • To complete the program, captains must complete 56 hours of service and cannot miss more than one day/week. Doing so will result in dropping out of the program.
  • To apply, complete the form included in the Returning Summer Teen application packet.

Senior Teen Program (17 years old or 12th grade)

  • Unlike Summer Teens, Senior Teens may volunteer year round.
  • Senior Teens get the flexibility to volunteer around their school schedules, on the weekends and during holiday breaks.
  • Some service opportunities may be completed in pairs or with friends.
  • To complete the program, volunteers must commit to complete a total of 50 hours of service annually.
  • If you are 18 years or older, please contact volunteers@jpshealth.org or 817-702-1590 for an Adult Volunteer Application.
